1. LaptopDirect is not an "e-commerce" store - we do not have credit card facilities. Our web sites are our product catalogues and prices are a reference only - you cannot buy directly off our site and all products are sold according to the user's specifications and requirements. Professional advice is given by the sales person so that customers can make correct and informed decisions. Please call us if you are unsure about a product.
2. LaptopDirect is supported and partically managed by ComX Computers, who has been offering computer sales to the public since 2002, and we are a preffered reseller for some of the suppliers in South Africa.
3. Errors made by customers: Customers must make sure that the product they want to purchase is correctly suited to your needs and requirements, and it is assumed that customers have viewed or reviewed the product before making their purchase, and that they are satisfied with the product they will receive.
4. Errors made by us: we will refund the product in full or offer an alternative if a grave error or incorrect specifications have been given by us (The goods must be returned to us within 7 days of purchase)
5. Errors made by the supplier of the product: Our suppliers are responsible for correcting any errors they have made with your order, and we will honour any action they agree to take to correct such error.
6. We honour the supplier's warranty period and conditions, this may not always be the same as the manufacturer's warranty, and this may not always be from the date reflected on our invoice to the customer.

Consumer fraud

1. We do not sell to Nigeria or Indonesia: Please do not email us for pricing or quotation unless payment is done to South Africa by guaranteed bank transfer only - NO CHECKS - NO CREDIT CARDS from these countries. We use our own courier service to deliver to these countries.
2. The customer got robbed by xyz.co.za: We are not an "ecommerce store" (no credit cards accepted) and are only associated with ComX in South Africa - please do not contact us if you have been defrauded by any other "on-line company" - we are not able to help you track your money or goods due to "theft", "bankruptcy", "fly-by-nights" or "fraud" - some of the top suppliers have recently removed a large number of resellers from their "approved" lists (80%) to avoid this problem in the future. ComX is one of the top 20% IT retail companies in South Africa.

Storage of emails

1. It is a legal requirement for all companies to save all electronic communications for a period of no less than 2 years.
2. We cannot delete your email, even at your request. You may apply for a court order to have your email removed from our system, but the application must be against the government and not us.

Spam / email marketing

1. It is illegal: Sending unwanted email, irrespective of content, is illegal in South Africa - it is a crime and you become a criminal punishable by law if you send emails containing promotional material.
2. We don't spam: We do not send out spam. If you receive spam from "us", please send us a copy so that we may track it.
3. It can be a virus: Viruses can mask themselves as other people's email addresses, we recommend you purchase an up to date virus software license, such as Norton, from ComX Computers here.
4. We file for two years: All emails received by a company in South Africa must be filed for two years, irrespective of content - we do not delete the emails.
5. We ignore spam: All emails that are deteced as spam by our server is automatically stopped at the server - no-one gets to see them. These emails are filed and logged by a webmaster in accordance to (4) for possible future legal action against the individual and company who sent it.
6. We blacklist spammers: All emails originating from a spammer gets their web site address blocked on our server, on all our partner sites and we may also ask our ISP to block access to the site - no-one will ever be able to view the site in future, even if they wanted to.

Other fraud activities

1. Foreign invitations and visas: We do not issue "letters of invitation" or "visas" to "prospective buyers" from any other country. Home affairs (border control) contacts us before and when an illegal alien tries to enter the country using these methods.
